When and where are the next courses?
How long is the Course?
FOODSAFE Level 1 is designed to be taught in 7 hours. There is some room for variation in the length of the course depending on the level of participation, knowledge and experience of the students attending.
Where are the courses located?
Currently, our food safety courses are hosted in Victoria, Duncan, Nanaimo and Courtenay. The Foodsafe and Marketsafe courses can be offered in other locations upon request, please contact us for more information on private courses.
Can you teach my entire group or all my employees?
Yes! Provided there is space in a class, your group can attend a scheduled course. Alternatively, if you have a large enough group we can accommodate a private course. Please send us the details of your request, including number of students and location at email@example.com for more information.
Why do I need FOODSAFE?
The Food Premises Regulation requires that the operator of any food facility have FOODSAFE training or in the operators absence, that at least one staff member on site has FOODSAFE training. Beyond the regulatory requirements, FOODSAFE Level 1 is an excellent way to build your food safety knowledge to advance your qualifications for working in the food industry.
What is FOODSAFE Level 2?
FOODSAFE Level 2 is a course geared towards owners, managers and other leadership roles within the food facilities. The course builds on the knowledge of FOODSAFE Level 1 and provides senior staff with the skills necessary to manage a food facility and foster food safe practices.
Can I take the exam in other languages?
Yes. The exam is available in a number of different languages: English, French, Chinese, Korean, Punjabi, Japanese, Arabic, Farsi, Spanish and Tagalog.
Can I challenge the quiz instead of taking the entire course?
The first time you acquire your FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate, you are required to complete the full course. When you recertify, you can take a refresher course that is shorter and provides a more condensed version of the material.
Do I get my certificate right after the course?
Yes, you will receive a temporary certificate the day of the course when you successfully pass. Your official certificate will be mailed out to you after it has been processed by the issuing agency.
Does my FOODSAFE Certificate expire?
Yes, the FOODSAFE Level 1 certificate expires every 5 years.
I’ve lost my certificate, how do I get a replacement?
You can contact your local FOODSAFE issuing agency. Within Island Health’s regions, you can call 250-737-2017.
How do I pay?
When you register for the course, you can pay through PayPal or credit card.
How do I cancel or reschedule my course?
Cancellations can be made up to 72 hours before the start of scheduled class with a full refund. You may change to another class, space permitting, up to 48 hours before the start of class. No refunds will be given with less than 72 hours notice. For more information, contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org
Do classes ever get cancelled by Grade A Learning?
On rare occasions, classes may be cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. If this does happen, you will be notified at least 72 hours before the class with the option for a full refund or switching to a future class.
