Welcome to Vancouver Island’s Top Choice for FoodSafe classes. Because our instructors are all Environmental Health Officers, they are able to share their experiences, knowledge, and real world examples of food safety. Your registration cost covers the course, your FoodSafe or MarketSafe Participant Workbook, and Certification. We have a special interest in providing you with the best learning experience possible. Therefore, the course includes slides, videos, and other learning tools which make the course enjoyable and user friendly. Of course we want you to pass the course. But most importantly we want to provide you with knowledge and understanding to ensure you keep your customers safe with every meal.
The Level 1 course is a food safety, sanitation and work safety course designed for food service establishment operators, cooks, servers, dishwashers and deli workers. Above all, Foodsafe covers important food safety and worker safety information. This includes foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing and serving food, cleaning and sanitizing. In addition, this course provides the certification required under the BC Food Regulations.
Level 2 is for food service owners, managers, kitchen managers, and executive chefs who have taken Level 1. Furthermore, building on principles covered in Level 1, Foodsafe Level 2 discusses how to build a culture of food safety in a premises. As well it talks about how to design effective Food Safety and Sanitation Plans. This course usually runs 2 days in length because of its advanced content.
MarketSafe is for farmers, food processors and producers who make, bake or grow products to sell at local farmers’ markets, farm gates or other types of temporary food markets. Besides that, it is a great course for any home cooks. MarketSafe is not equivalent to FOODSAFE Level 1.
